Free energy and window coverings and Nanotechnology

FREE ENERGY and Window Coverings and Nanotechnology Eventually our need for window coverings will cease.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsuB-6-n-MM   Justin Hall-Tipping talks about how energy may very soon be created by nanotechnology. Scientists, creative geniuses that they are, have come up with a new style of window that incorporates energy generation. This is one of the TED talks that reminds us all how important Science is to all of us. Free energy. Imagine that. Imagine how life will improve for all of us.  So very inspirational. It has been my dream too. That one day we would have window coverings that generated electricity. Now some very clever people have been working to create just such a reality.

Moveable Shutters

Shutters for the Sub Arctic   Although the video is short and the information a little scanty, I thought it might prove useful to those who are interested in outside shutters that work. In other times, shutters were the window coverings of choice. Nowadays they are usually  merely ornamental in nature. Here is a product that seems to offer a different vision of how to save energy at the window.   Fairbanks, Alaska www.farrellhomebuilding.com   These shutters are moveable and completely cover the windows, which in the sub arctic is a really good idea given the wintry conditions and low, low temperatures.

What blinds are supposed to look like... new innovations.

blinds that inspire     http://www.creativelydifferentblinds.com/AroundBritainBath/PulteneyWeirBathEvening.aspx   I have been wondering why we don't have these in North America. These designs and blinds are exactly what I have been dreaming of for years, and years.    Blinds that look like ART! What a great idea! http://www.creativelydifferentblinds.com/AroundBritainBath/PulteneyBridgeBathautumn.aspx How about these? These are a miniscule selection of great designs that can be placed on a blind from Creatively Different Designer Blinds.  You can reach them here. http://www.creativelydifferentblinds.com/ Well worth looking up! Solarize Inflector Window Systems.     It gets cold in Maine. Really cold. This product is a great testament to the reality that Yankee ingenuity still lives.  I don't know when I have been so thrilled with a product. This seems like a great answer to those of us who live in cold climates and who need greater savings on our energy costs.     http://www.shoreenergy.ca/inflector_blinds.html http://solarizewindowinsulators.com/

Drafty Patio Doors? Another solution!

Image
Patio Doors and Foiling Heat Loss With the onslaught of cold weather I am always searching for ways that we can save heat and energy at the window. Patio doors although delightful are a minus in the winter time. The large window expanse is often cold and drafty. Now I know that not everyone will want to see the shiny aluminum as part of their décor. However, these shutters can save you money. I might add another set of curtains over the shiny shutters just to make the room a little less austere.  But the basic principles are exactly what is needed for patio doors. Saving energy at the window means we are lowering our carbon footprint too! http://www.builditsolar.com/Projects/Conservation/Astrofoil/AstrofoilShutters.htm
