DIY- Making Warmer Windows


There is a killer cold here in Canada and in the Northern US.  So this week I am adding several Do-it-yourself projects to help with making your home warmer and of course lower those heating bills.

I have posted various Bubble Wrap storm window treatments  before and I find that many people are using this easy and quick fix. Here are a couple of examples of how to make your life a little warmer.

The link above gives you  step by step instructions about how to insulate windows with common stretch wrap. I have not tried this but for sheer thrift and ingenuity... it might be worth a try.
 
  
 
At the link below there is a you tube video of a more intensive version of something similar. Worth watching if you have the time and money for something that is more permanent.
It does appear that everyone is realizing that storm windows are back in fashion.

What to do with those arched windows? Palladian Windows and their nineteenth century cousins, eyebrow arches are beautiful, letting in lots of light and warmth. Sometimes those beautifully curved arches let in too much light, heating up the house, or making the most intimate areas of the home just a little too visible to others.
