Window Art

All things that appear -  come from artists and design first. Someone has to imagine it. Or. Receive the inspiration to create it.
So.
In the spirit of novelty, joy and creation -
here are some pictures from various sources that express the beauty that can be found at the window.
Looking for something unique? Pinterest and Etsy are often great places to start to find something that brings the creative right into your home.
Here are a few finds that I have delighted in lately. Let us have joy at the window!

Window coverings don't always have to be sensible and practical , sometimes they can also bring enchantment.

I would never have the skill or the patience to do this, but the brilliant colours used in this handcrafted crochet turns humdrum into delightful.

Is there anything lovelier or more elegant than toile on a French door? Or what about magnificent stained glass on a window? Both of these treatments are all about elegance amid mystery.

Sometimes a big paper fan at the window is ideal for those expensive and difficult to cover Palladium windows. Arches are a 19th century design when so much was hand crafted. Hence the difficulty in finding something that works in these difficult spaces. Summertime might mean a fan in this space, attached to the frame with Velcro buttons.
Winter might mean take the fan down - to let the sun shine in and brighten your mood.

Or get some wallpaper and make your own just for fun.

Glass shelves and maybe pots of herbs can be delightfully whimsical, bringing the outdoors - indoors. Yes. That can be at the window too

Oh so memorable and it does the trick of making art at the window.

Playing with textures and the sheen of fabric can create a simple yet dramatic look with not too much money. This is elegant and playful at the same time. Plus using two different colours at the window frees the strictures that so often make window treatments - ordinary. Why not capture whimsy

Look closely. These windows have no coverings. Yet they too have become Art at the Window. Maybe not for everyone but certainly descriptive of what is happening to our carefully contrived safe little worlds.

Crafty window coverings. You could use anything at the window to do this, maybe even feathers. But if you use feathers realize your cat might never leave this alone. It makes me smile when I see this.

Sometimes all you need at a window that has outside privacy is something simple yet evocative. See how it echoes what is outside the window... small leaved plant... small leaves on the window covering. Ordinary becomes Art

Using an unusual item for your curtain rod can very often turn ordinary to extra-ordinary. Here they use a paddle but you could easily use a branch from a tree, a long piece of driftwood, even a fancy broom, anything long enough.

Unusual windows often call for unusual window treatments. Here different coloured glass adds to the privacy. Sheets of acetate can be used in such a fashion too. Change the light and change the mood.

Enliven your windows. Enliven yourself. Enliven others.
